The Barn Collective and I'd Rather B Birdin'

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, October 31, 2018
It was beginning to rain, and I stopped in the road to snap a quick photo before another car came along. If only I had taken a minute to frame the photo properly, I would have moved forward a few feet so the stump would not be right in the middle like that. Oh well, live and learn!

Your bird for today is...

… an Eastern Phoebe in the early morning light.

Have a blessed day!

  1. I love this barn. Nothing wrong with including the stumps in the scene. They add perspective.

  3. Interesting barn. It looks like it has seen better days and yet the grass is mowed and the trees have extremely pruned---something is going on.
    Sweet bird

  6. ...Lea, now you have a reason to return, that's what I like to do. With that hole in the roof, you better not wait too long. Thanks for sharing, enjoy.

  8. oh, better to have the stump Lea than take a chance on getting run over- those quick stops along the road can be dangerous. It's a great barn and I'm glad you stopped. And of course I love the phoebe (which is a bird on my wish list to SEE (I don't even imagine being able to get a good picture as I'm so slow song birds are really hard for me).

  9. Oh, Eastern Phoebes are so sweet! What Sallie said about safety! Framing and positioning can be tricky, for sure. Some things can be fixed with cropping, but positioning is tougher. But, to be honest, your photo is warm and welcoming the way it is.

  11. It's a nice shot, even if you were "stumped" :-) That kind of thing happens to me all the time!

  12. There are many places where it is hard to pull off safely to take a picture. It helps to have a co-pilot to watch for cars.
