"Know ye that the Lord he is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations" Psalm 100:3-5

Monday Mural and Our World Tuesday

Tishomingo, Mississippi, USA, August 6, 2021
It was a cloudy day when we were in town. I meant to go back on a sunny day, but it has been over a month now, so here goes with the cloudy day photos.

The Bible verse on the sign is John 13:34 "Love each other as I have loved you."

Independence Day celebration

The town gets its name from an important Native American Indian: Chief Tishomingo.

The railroad was key to the early development of the town and is still important today.

The Swinging Bridge is a pedestrian bridge at Tishomingo State Park. It is supported by steel cables and yes, it does sway a bit as you walk across it.

Produced by Tony Bullard Art © 2017. Sponsored by the Tishomingo Historical and Genealogical Society.

Have a wonderful week!

Monday Mural and Through My Lens

Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, July 6, 2019
This 12 X 35 feet mural, painted by MJ Torrecampo and Lujan Perez, honors our native American Indian heritage. Piominko and Tishominko (Tishomingo) were leaders of the Chickasaw Nation when United States citizens moved into the area in the late 1700s. Mississippi became a state in 1817. The Magnolia blooms represent Mississippi's state flower, and Tupelo is the crossroads for two major railroads, BNSF and GM&O. (The tree on the sidewalk is a Crepe Myrtle).

Tupelo was incorporated in 1870, and the arrow is a copy of the "First TVA City" sign. (Tupelo was the first city to receive electric power from the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1934).

Have a wonderful week!

The sun is shining, trees are budding, birds are singing!

Common Starling aka European Starling, Sturnus vulgaris

.
2. Good Food!
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, March 6, 2019
At Taziki's Mediterranean Café: Mediterranean Salad with Grilled Salmon - mixed lettuces with garbanzo beans, roasted red peppers, red onions, diced tomatoes, roasted pecans, feta cheese, and char-grilled Atlantic salmon. The pita bread was delicious, and I tried two salad dressings. The dark one, balsamic vinaigrette, was tart; the lighter one, a Greek dressing, was milder. Every bite was absolutely delicious!

3. Train
Lee County, Mississippi, USA, March 7, 2019

2. Working on the Railroad
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, December 12, 2018

3. Amaryllis (Floral Friday Fotos)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, December 19, 2018
My 'Red Lion' Amaryllis bulb put up two bloom stalks. The first blooms opened on December 4th (four flowers). Now the second stalk is blooming. These two blooms are lighter in color and more delicate looking than the first blooms, but beautiful nonetheless.

One of the shortest trains I have ever seen, but interesting nonetheless.

Green Market Day for May 2013

Welcome to the Corinth Crossroads!
Corinth, Mississippi, was founded  in 1853 where two railroads crossed:
The Mobile and Ohio Railroad and The Memphis and Charleston Railroad.
The city was originally named Cross City, but the name was soon changed to Corinth.

The Crossroads Museum contains
American Indian artifacts, railroad history displays, aviation memorabilia,
and relics from the American Civil War.
.
This more modern day caboose (built in 1970) is open for tours
.
On the first Saturday of each month, April to November,
the Crossroads is transformed into The Green Market
for local farmers, gardeners, craftsmen, and artisans to sell their wares.
(There is a regular Farmer's Market elsewhere in the city, too).

It was too early in the year for fresh home-grown vegetables,
but there was still plenty of locally produced food for sale.
In a nearby booth, a beekeeper was selling honey.
.
The many craft booths added bright colors to the day.
.
A local artisan produces lovely pottery!
.
Several booths had plants for sale.
.
And even if you don't have a green thumb, you can still have flowers!
The artist will add a name or phrase to personalize them.
.

I hope you are having a beautiful day!
