In January we had snow and sleet on the ground and below freezing temperatures for nine days. It set my flowers back several weeks. I looked at my February Bloom Day posts for the last few years. I had masses of Daffodils, but this year I have only a few buds.

Hopefully, my March Bloom Day post will be full of Daffodils!

Hellebores just laugh at cold weather!

The Spirea has only a few blooms, but I am hoping for hundreds of these tiny blooms in the next few weeks!

When I checked on my Hellebores buds on Saturday, it was a bright sunny day. Yesterday (Sunday) we had rain mixed with sleet. This morning we have a wintery mix of snow and sleet.

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, March 2023

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens.

Here in the northeast corner of Mississippi, March began with rain, rain and more rain. Today is sunny, but rain is in the forecast again for Friday.

Our Pear Trees are blooming!

Most of the Daffodils bloomed in February, but we still have a few today.

Another February bloomer, now in March, the Hellebores are beginning to lose their color.

The Flowering Almond, a small shrub, is just beginning to open its buds.

The Spirea blooms look like tiny roses!

Spring Beauty is a tiny wildflower.

Wild Violets are beginning to pop up under the pear trees.

My Buckeyes are budding. Their tubular blooms are a favorite of the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds that hopefully will be here by the first of April.

The Maple Tree buds may not qualify as blooms, but they are so pretty that I wanted to include them!

My Hellebores began to form buds in mid-December. The weather forecast was for much colder weather (5°F) near Christmas, so I covered them with hay. They survived, but the blooms are smaller than normal.

I have lots of Daffodils blooming.

Some are large ones like these that I think are "King Alfred" Daffodils.

Others are small Daffodils, (name unknown) that often produce two blooms on one stem.

I have two clumps of Snowflakes, Luecojum.

I have only a few Hyacinths.

My Hellebores have been in bloom since our January Bloom Day. The earlier blooms are fading, but the newer blooms still have lots of color.

Wildflowers, Spring Beauty, Claytonia virginica.

My Spirea is covered in tiny white blooms.

Forsythia is a reliable early Spring bloomer.

Flowering Quince is another early spring shrub.

Ornamental Pear Trees are valued for their beautiful blooms, but their hard, tiny fruits are not edible.

Yesterday's forecast was for "wintery mix" so I went outside to look for blooms before it started. The below freezing temperatures and wind had already knocked down the only Daffodil brave enough to open.

The Hellebores are blooming, but they do not look happy about the colder-than-usual weather.

This is the view from my porch this morning, looking down my driveway towards the road. We had freezing rain overnight. It is 22F (-5C) and sleeting now at 9:00am, with snow forecast for later in the day.
I just keep telling myself, "Spring is coming! Spring is coming!"

We have had very nice weather in January. Some rain, but mostly sunny days like this one earlier in the month. Our nighttime temperatures are near or below freezing, but the days warm up to about 50F (10C).

I was concerned that I might not have any flowers for Bloom Day as we had snow on Monday.

I am very thankful today for flowers that can survive the cold weather and bloom in the Winter!
