Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, June 2024

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day hosted by Carol at May Dreams Gardens

I am in the northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7b

My Althea, Rose of Sharon, is just beginning to bloom.

And the Elderberries are nearing the end of their bloom time.

Burr Rose

Phlox

Begonia in a hanging basket on my front porch in early morning sunlight

A recent purchase: Balloon Flower, Platycodon grandiflorus

A wildflower: Spiderwort, Tradescantia

I bought Marigolds to be companion plants for my Tomatoes.

And, yes, my Tomatoes are blooming, too!

For a look at things to come...

...the Tiger Lilies will soon be blooming.

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, May 2024

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day at May Dreams Gardens (see link below).

I am in the northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7b, and I am glad I made these photos a day early. Yesterday afternoon we had heavy rain with pea-sized hail!

I found this Peruvian Lily, Alstroemeria, on the discount shelf. It had a couple of broken stems and was marked down to almost half-price. A real bargain!

I bought 24 Marigolds. I have planted some, and hope to get the others set out today.

Spiderwort, a wildflower that I dug up off the side of the road several years ago.

Another wildflower, Butterflyweed

The Burr Rose got its name because the buds have tiny spines like a burr.

My mother called this type of Running Rose "Seven Sisters" because the blooms grow in clusters.

There are still a few blooms on the Kerria Japonica shrub.

These Begonias are in a hanging basket on my porch.

I have had this Clematis vine for many years.

This tiny butterfly, a Gray Hairstreak, posed for me while I was getting photos of the blooms, so of course, I have to include it! I am not sure of the name of the small wildflower in the background, but that makes it a Bloom Day photo, right?

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day

Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day and Saturday's Critters

The 15th of each month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day at May Dreams Gardens - see link below.

Northeast Mississippi, USA zone 7b

Asiatic Dayflower, Commelina communis, common name: Mouse Ears!

Wild Petunia, Ruellia humilis

The American Beautyberry, Callicarpa americana, is a shrub that has clusters of tiny blooms in the Summer. Each bloom will produce a beautiful purple berry in the Autumn. Food for birds!

Speaking of birds, if you want Hummingbirds to visit your garden, hang up a few Hummingbird feeders.

For Saturday's Critters: I think this is a juvenile Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

My Wax Begonias are blooming very well this Summer.

I take them indoors in the Winter, then hang them on my porch when the weather warms up again.

.

Sedum, Stonecrop

Marigolds

Hibiscus

Althea, Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus syriacus, is a small invasive tree (or a large shrub).

I saved my prettiest bloom for last: Tiger Lily!
