Scavenger Hunt and Scenic Week-Ends

This week's Scavenger Hunt prompts are:
Down the Street, Beneath my Feet, Faceless, Blurry, and Red White and Blue.

Down the Street

My street is a country road, and at a small pond down the road lives a Great Blue Heron.

Beneath my Feet

Beneath my feet is a mushroom village.

Faceless

Faceless self-portrait. I was amazed at how small the doors were in this log cabin built in 1860.  I could barely walk through without bumping my head.

It is near a walking trail at Bay Springs Lake, Tishomingo county, Mississippi, USA

Blurry

In twenty-four hours we had 9 1/2 inches (24 cm) of rain - an amazing amount of rain for our area.  This is the view through the car windshield on July 4.

Red, White, and Blue

"One nation, under God."

Hope you are having a beautiful day!

Scavenger Hunt Photos March 24, 2013

This week's Scavenger Hunt prompts are: Asian, Wavy, Draw, Soft, and Texture.

Asian:

The Asian Wisteria vine is usually pruned back to make a shrub.
Now near the end of March, it is just fat buds on bare branches.
Unless we get a hard freeze, we will have blooms in a few weeks.

The grape-like aroma of the Asian Wisteria attracts bees and other pollinators.
There is an American Wisteria that looks similar, but has no scent.

Wavy:
I don't have Wavy. The best I can do is Waving.

It is difficult to get a sharp photo of my Spirea,
because the branches are constantly waving in the wind.

Draw:

Each year I draw my garden plan.
Of course, I will see other vegetables I want to grow,
and find room for them somewhere!
Soft:

Not only is Big Jay soft, he claims the softest seat in the house!

Texture:

The beautifully textured bud of Aesculus, Buckeye

From first bud to full bloom is about 6 weeks (April 2012)

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Scavenger Hunt January 27, 2013

The Scavenger Hunt prompts this week are: Lace, Bling, Wood, Fuzzy, and Fabric.

Lace:

The only Lace I could find around here was a shoe lace.
Very boring - so I asked the cat for help.
She thought it was boring, too! Oh, well....

Bling:

A pretty Watering Globe will add Bling to your flower gardens!
Fill with water, push it into the ground, and the water goes right to the roots.

Wood:

Old barn, Itawamba county, Mississippi, USA

Fuzzy:
Fuzzy seedhead from my Archives: November 9, 2012

Fabric:

My husband's grandmother made this quilted wall-hanging for us 30 years ago.
It brightens my kitchen and holds wonderful memories of her.
The pattern is The Drunkard's Path!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday March 25 2012

This week's prompts are:
Whimsy, Create, Dust, Seed or Sprout, and Swing or Drop

Whimsy:
Frog Musicians

Create:
I enjoy creating photographs.
This reminds me of the poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer.
Remember the closing lines:
"Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."
Dust:

Spring is here! Time to dust off the plant stands!
A strong jet of water from the hose will clean this up.

There. Much better!
Columbines and Amaryllis on my front porch.

Seed or Sprout:
I sprout grass seeds for my indoor cat. She loves them!

Swing or Drop:
Just the slightest breeze will make these tiny dew drops live up to their name
and drop to the ground!
