Thankful Thursday and Little Things Thursday

We are having a few Spring-like days before Winter returns next week, and I am thankful!
I am also thankful that last week's storms passed without major damage in our immediate area.

This is a Spirea, but I am not sure of its exact name. It really shines in the Spring with its masses of tiny flowers, and it has golden-orange foliage in the Autumn.

Saturday's Critters, Camera Critters, and Shadow Shot Sunday 2

The Common Whitetail Skimmer, Plathemis lydia, is a dragonfly seen across much of North America. This is a male; the female has a brown body and a different wing pattern. Dragonflies eat mosquitoes and other small flying insects.

Doesn't it cast a pretty shadow!

It knows how to use camouflage. If I had not seen it light there, I would have never noticed it.

I was admiring these large metal butterflies when I noticed the beautiful shadows on the ground.

This huge Oak Tree makes wonderful deep shade in the Summer,

but it is now, in the Winter, that the beautiful structure of its branches is revealed.

The dark silhouette on the uphill side is our dog.
