Red-breasted Nuthatch, November 21, 2018

Wild Bird Wednesday and Wednesday Around The World

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, November 4, 2018
The Red-breasted Nuthatch, Sitta canadensis, is a migratory songbird of North America. In the Summer they breed all across Canada and in the mountainous areas of the United States.

And in the Winter they come south! I am very happy to see them at my feeders.

Have a wonderful day!

  6. Wonderful little bird! They don't get this far south every year, but I have heard their calls in my neighborhood recently, although I haven't actually seen one at the feeders yet. I live in hope!

  7. I'm still seeing them here but it is to be very cold tonight so they may take off soon for warmer temps.

  8. They are cute little buddies. We had many more of them traveling through this year than I remember in the past. They don't spend much time here--summers north of us and winters south of us. Cute photo! Enjoy!
