"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"Know ye that the Lord he is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures to all generations" Psalm 100:3-5

The Lake at Veterans Memorial Park, Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, November 7, 2021
We have had beautiful sunny days this week except for a little rain on Thursday morning.

Evergreen trees provide a nice contrast to the trees that change color in the Autumn.

I like this black and white view from the far end of the lake. It looks like a small lake when you start to walk around it, but it seems to grow bigger the farther you get from where you parked the car!

I hope the weather is good where you are!

We had beautiful weather for our trip to Pickwick Lake on Sunday. The water was reflecting the deep blue of the sky to make an absolutely gorgeous day!

2. Autumn Color

Northern Mockingbirds, Mimus polyglottos, like to sing from the highest point of the landscape. In this case, it is the top of an electric power pole.

1. Sky Watch Friday

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, August 18, 2020

We have had partly cloudy skies this week.

But looking at the tree from the other side, we see clear skies and a Northern Mockingbird, Mimus polyglottos.

3. The Most Interesting Thing I Have Seen This Week

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, August 14, 2020

I thought Lichens just grew on trees. I was wrong! I found this one on an old truck.

4. Saturday's Critters

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, July 28, 2020

The mother Raccoon and her two babies are eating the sunflower seed we put on the ground for the Doves!

5. I'd Rather B Birdin'

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, August 16, 2020

Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Archilochus colubris, at our feeders. Right now we are seeing more females and juveniles, and fewer males. Only the males have the ruby-red throat feathers.

The feeders contain a mixture of sugar and water that is similar to the flower nectar that is their natural food. They also eat small insects.

Three birds - do you see the tail feathers of the one behind the feeder? With more than 50 wingbeats per second, Hummingbirds can zip around really fast and hover in mid-air!

Have a blessed day!

1. Clouds (Sky Watch Friday)
Lee County, Mississippi, USA, June 17, 2020
We have had beautiful blue skies this week with fluffy white clouds.

The crop in the field is Winter Wheat, ready for harvesting. Then the farmer will probably plant soybeans (to be harvested in November).

2. Babies on the Porch!
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 11, 2020
I have been very careful when watering one of the hanging baskets on my porch.

A pair of Carolina Wrens raised their babies there!
I saw two, but could get a photo of only one.
Now that they have flown, I can stop just misting the plant and give it a really good drink of water!

3. What I am Reading
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 19, 2020
I am enjoying the Secrets of Wayfarers Inn series of books.

A brief summary from the back of the first book "Family Secrets."

4. Anole (Saturday's Critters)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 10, 2020

3. Garden Update
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 2, 2020
Here is my second potato harvest, grown in a large flower pot! 1 lb. 3 oz. 'Red Norland' potatoes.
If you are wondering what I did with the smallest potatoes: I washed them and added them unpeeled to a pot of vegetable soup. I just love to see things grow - growing potatoes in containers is easy and fun!
