Hummingbirds, September 25, 2019

Wild Bird Wednesday and My Corner of the World

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 22, 2019
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Archilochus colubris, breed in the eastern half of North America in the Summer and spend the Winter months in Mexico and the Central American Countries.

Most of the Hummingbirds that spent the Summer with us have already left headed south. We still see a few birds at the feeders so we will keep the feeders filled for any passing migrants.

And we will be eagerly awaiting their return in the Spring!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Hummers are just enjoyable to watch. Our Hummingbirds out here are the rufous and the Annas. The Annas stay year around.

  2. So sweet. Had one here at my farm, in Kentucky, the other day. A bit unusual.

  4. I only saw one all summer. I really do believe the number of birds is decreasing drastically.

  5. Yes, the hummingbirds are gone. I miss them but like you say, we'll see them again come spring.

  7. Such a daunting task for the tiny creatures!

  8. This is the only kind of feeder I can have at my apartment, since bears come to the feeders with seeds (and the hummer feeder is on the second floor balcony.)

  9. They are so sweet, but also tough. We still have a few hanging around, but we're past the peak migration. Amazing little loves.
