S is for Spinus tristis - American Goldfinch, a small North American bird of the Finch family

Spinus tristis, the American Goldfinch, can be found over much of North America. It is a year-round resident in the midsection of the United States, but is seen in Canada only in the Summer, and in Mexico and the southwestern US only in the Winter. You can attract them to your yard with sunflower seeds.
