Quiscalus quiscula - the Common Grackle
|
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, April 7, 2019 |
The Common Grackle,
Quiscalus quiscala, may be seen across the eastern and middle parts of North America. They eat seeds, and they may be a threat to corn and rice crops. They also eat fruit, insects, frogs, small fish, salamanders, crustaceans, and mice. When the light hits their feathers just right, they are brightly iridescent.
Have a wonderful day!
