Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday, Floral Friday Fotos,
and on Saturday, Saturday's Critters, and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. Blue Skies! (Sky Watch Friday)
'Home of the Bearcats' Baldwyn, Mississippi, USA, May 23, 2019
No rain this week with high temperatures in the low 90sF (33C).
The birds on the water tank are Black Vultures.

2. Good Food!
Iuka, Mississippi, USA, May 18, 2019
At The Country Squire Restaurant: grilled chicken breast with grilled pineapple and a cherry, baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar, toasted bread, and iced tea. The meal also included a green salad (lettuce, tomato, carrots, cucumber, etc.). It was delicious!

3. Coreopsis (Floral Friday Fotos)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, May 23, 2019
Coreopsis is a genus of wildflower native to the Americas that contains about 75 to 80 species. I am not sure which one I have. Coreopsis blooms provide pollen and nectar for a wide range of bees and butterflies, and is loved by gardeners for its bright cheerful color.

4. Farming
Lee County, Mississippi, USA, May 22, 2019
After a very wet Spring, the fields are finally getting dry enough for the farmers to get to work.

5. Red-winged Blackbird (Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin')
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, May 19, 2019
a male Red-winged Blackbird, Agelaius phoeniceus, defending his territory!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Oh, I love your red wing blackbird! We have them here, too (we have a wetlands in sight distance of our favorite exercise walk trail) but I love the pose. Low 90's. Too hot for me, but we may be there soon. Your lunch made me hungry - time for breakfast.

  6. It all looks good, but the sweet potato looks especially delicious. The farming tractor and equipment looks like it might not clear the tree branches!

  13. That is one handsome male Red-winged Blackbird. I am sure he will be successful in attracting several females to his harem in the marshes!
