ABC Wednesday and Wild Bird Wednesday
Y is for Yellow - the primary color of an American Goldfinch

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 19, 2017
American Goldfinches, Spinus tristis, are migratory birds whose range covers most of North America. During breeding season the males are bright yellow with black crowns, wings and tail; the females are a duller yellow.

In the Winter their non-breeding plumage is a light yellow with brownish wings and tail.

Goldfinches are strict vegetarians (seeds only). You can attract them to your yard by providing thistle seeds or sunflower seeds.

I hope you are having a wonderful day!
