Bleeding Heart Vine, June 2, 2017

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, May 31, 2017
Clerodendrum, Bleeding Heart Vine, is a tropical plant native to Africa. Since our Winters are too cold for it, I grow it in a pot and take it indoors each Autumn.

Happy Friday!

  2. I grew this plant in my garden for several years, but then one winter we actually had WINTER and that was the end of that!

  3. This is so unusual. I've never heard of it either.

  4. That's a beauty! Does it go dormant during the winter, or does it keep growing/blooming? Does it like shade or sun?

    1. Thanks for your comment and question on the Bleeding Heart Vine. Here in north Mississippi, zone 7, I give it morning sun and afternoon shade. Even our mild Winters are too cold for it, so it comes into the house before the first frost. I keep it watered and it stays green, but does not grow or bloom until it goes back outside in the late Spring. I have had it for years, and the stems are only about 3 feet long. I imagine in the tropics it would grow to be much taller, longer.
