Mockingbird, January 27, 2018

The Weekend in Black and White, Saturday's Critters, and I'd Rather B Birdin'

Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, January 9, 2018
I have had a bit of fun converting photos from color to black and white.

And here is the same Northern Mockingbird in color.
Same bird, same place, same day, but not the exact same photo.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. A handsome bird in either variation - but I really like it in black and white!

  5. Neat ... a perfect species to experiment with black & white!

As for black vs. turkey vultures...the turkey vulture has a red head & black has a broader head with black skin. Mine shared today has red thinner heads.

Thanks for stopping by & sharing your photos with all of us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin'

  11. Great idea. You can tell the quality of a photo is good if it looks just as good or better in black and white. I remember the Mockingbirds I encountered in Florida and Louisiana. Apparently, we have them here occasionally, too, but I've only seen them in the south. Friendly little buddies!
