A new meme for the new year! - a photo hunt! - Friday's Hunt begins today at Eden Hills!
This week's 3 prompts are: Starts with A, Week's Favorite, and Celebrate
Starts With A
American Coot
Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, December 7, 2015 |
Chunky birds with large feet, American Coots are strong swimmers. It takes a lot of wing flapping and frantic foot action to get them airborne. They eat a variety of grasses, seeds, grain, and aquatic plants.
Week's Favorite
Hummingbird nest
Hummingbird Nest, Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, December 24, 2015 |
The Hummingbirds leave our area in September to winter in Mexico. I found this nest on the ground after strong thunderstorms passed through our area last week. I am expecting the baby birds raised in this nest to return to us in the Spring. (But, of course, there is no way to know which ones they are)
Celebrate
Christmas Joy
Lee County, Mississippi, USA |
Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Sky Watch Friday
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, December 31, 2015 |
Our week began with heavy rain, but now skies are clearing with several days of sunshine in the forecast.
May you be richly blessed in the New Year!

ReplyDeleteThe hummingbird's nest is a magical find! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteHello, great series for the photo hunt. The hummingbird nest is cool. Love the sky shot and coots. May your New Year be filled with peace, love and joy! Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteLovely images and the hummingbird nest is really neat! I'm glad the weather in your area has calmed down.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! The hummingbird nest is great...I've never seen one. I would love to lure hummingbirds to our house, but so far no luck.
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't seen coots in years. I lived in a salt marsh in NJ and we had them there all the time. I don't see them out here in Montana. We do have hummers though. We put out feeders and enjoy their antics. No ruby throateds. We have rufous, calliope and black chinned.
ReplyDeleteThe reason for the season is the birth of Jesus, always worthy of celebration! I love waterfowl but am not as familiar of them as ducks and geese who seem to be around even bit of water in Southern New England. And the hummingbird nest is a work of art. All of these scenes are wonderful. Happy new Year!
ReplyDeleteThe hummingbird nest would be a favourite of mine too. I'm visiting from the Friday Hunt.
ReplyDeleteMy kids thought it was great to see your nest. They are hoping to find one themselves.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never seen such a deep hummingbird nest. I heard a hummingbird the other day and wondered if it was simply traveling through or settling from somewhere north of us.
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
Thanks for visiting my Friday Hunt at Etcetera the other day ... I'm running behind. Your photos are wonderful, and I'm looking forward to enjoying them all year!
