Mourning Dove, January 1, 2020

Wild Bird Wednesday, ABC Wednesday, and My Corner of the World
Z is for Zenaida macroura - a North American dove

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, December 24, 2019
A Zenaida macroura, Mourning Dove, at one of our bird feeders with a female Northern Cardinal in the background. They are ground-feeding birds; to attract them, offer sunflower seeds on the ground.

Happy New Year!

  1. Happy new year Lea! The mourning dove is under-appreciated I think. The sound of their cooing always relaxes me.
