H is for Hawk - a North American bird of prey

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, February 18, 2019

Red-shouldered Hawks, Buteo lineatus, live in the eastern half of the United States and extreme southeastern Canada. Their primary sources of food are small mammals, lizards, snakes, and amphibians. And occasionally they kill and eat other birds.

  5. I always enjoy watching hawks including red shouldered hawks. They are so vigilant and when they are around all the the critters sit up and take notice.

  8. Hello Lea, coming from ABC Wednesday. Great capture for this bird!
    Last week I changed some things on my firefox browser, and discovered my comments can get through now, hurrah (even the chanpta thingie is still time consuming) - oh and another thing changed at All Seasons - have increased the time to link up from Sunday till Friday noon - as this seems to work for some better. Hope to see you back soon!
