Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, February 2019

The northeast corner of Mississippi, USA zone 7

If our temperatures hover around freezing (a bit above in the day, but below freezing at night), our weather is clear and cold. If the temperature begins to rise, we can be sure that rain is on its way!

I have forgotten the name of this Spirea that is just beginning to bloom. Later in the month the entire bush will be completely covered with these delicate little blooms.

Hellebores!

.

And then there are Daffodils!

And last week I saw our first wildflower of the year! - the tiny Spring Beauty, Claytonia virginica

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  1. Ah, almost spring! We are still a couple of months away from daffodils and the like, but I do have a hellebore in my yard trying to bloom. Sadly it's under several inches of snow (and ice) right now. But we got above freezing yesterday and are above freezing right now. Maybe spring really is just around the corner? Happy GBBD to you.

  4. Oooo... daffodils! My Tete-a-Tetes have buds, but the big ones seem to have disappeared during the winter.

  10. Oh, this post is a joy to see! I can't believe you have Spring Beauties already! I don't see them until late April, at the earliest. I know the Daffodils and Hellebores will be blooming sooner, though. Your photos give me hope! Thank you!

  12. I'm surprised to see that you have daffodils already, Lea! All I've got is foliage so far. I'm envious of the hellebores and that very pretty Spiraea. Technically, hellebores and at least one species of Spiraea will grow in my climate but I can't claim they're really happy here.
