Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday, Floral Friday Fotos, and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. Bay Springs Lake (Sky Watch Friday, I'd Rather B Birdin')
Tishomingo County, Mississippi, USA, November 22, 2017
Our weather this week has been cold, but sunny. Wednesday was too pretty a day to stay home, so we drove over to Bay Springs Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. We walked along the shore for awhile, but the wind was too strong to stay outside for very long.

We saw a large mixed flock of American Coots and Ringed-necked Ducks. They are migratory birds that we see here only in the Winter,

The grayish birds with black heads are American Coots; the dark birds with white breasts and sides are Ring-necked Ducks.

2. Autumn Color
Prentiss County, Mississippi, November 22, 2017
Most of our Autumn leaves, like these from a Ginkgo tree, are on the ground now.

But we still have evergreen trees with colorful berries. I think this is some type of Holly.
If anyone can identify it for sure, please let me know.

3. The Most Unusual Thing I Have Seen This Week
Prentiss County, Mississippi , USA, November 23, 2017
I was surprised to see windows and doors installed on a building before the walls were built.

4. Rose (Floral Friday Fotos)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, November 16, 2017
There was still a bud on my pink Rose when our night-time temperatures dipped below freezing on Sunday night.

I cut the bud and brought it inside to coax it to open. It has a very pleasant fragrance.

5. Holidays and Holy Days

  1. ...I'm having a pole barn built and the windows and door were installed and the metal siding was then installed around them.

  3. I have seen this before....but, just maybe it was unplanned, and the windows were delivered early...that's my way of trying to be funny.

  4. I'm waiting until December before thinking of Christmas!

  5. I've not seen a building built like that where I live in Upstate New York but perhaps it has something to do with our weather. That rose looks like an old fashioned rose (a cabbage rose?) but I am no rose expert. Have a great weekend!

  7. I like how you placed the group shots together: birds, leaves, and berries.

  10. These are such lovely photos. I have also noticed that roses put out buds and bloom when it's absolutely freezing! No wonder there are so many rose fans out there -- it's indeed an amazing plant. The American Coots have really wonderful color around their eyes and it stands out on those black heads. I think it's a Holly based on the leaf shape as my holly plants also have the same leaf and berries. I think that's the latest design -- no walls but doors and windows :-). I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
