Indigo Bunting, September 6, 2017

ABC Wednesday, Wild Bird Wednesday, and Wednesday Around The World
I is for Indigo Bunting

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, August 5, 2017
Indigo Buntings, Passerina cyanea, are migratory birds that breed in the United States
and southeastern Canada. They fly south to the Central American countries to spend the Winter months. They get their name from the male's blue coloring; females are brownish.
Indigo Buntings eat seeds, berries, tree buds, and insects.

Have a wonderful day!

  8. Oh, they're so beautiful! Lucky you! I only see them in the springtime, so their migration path must be different in the spring than in the fall.
