I had never seen this bird before, and have not seen it again since I made this photo. I live in the northeastern corner of Mississippi. Thank you for any suggestions to help ID this bird.

I am pretty sure it's a tanager...perhaps a very YOUNG scarlet tanager [or female]

ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird -- I'd go with whatever Eileen and Anni say, they're the experts. My son sent me a link to a FaceBook page called "What's This Bird" though which I tried once. Seemed like helpful people there too.
