Saturday's Critters and Camera Critters
Muskrat, Ondatra zibethicus - a semiaquatic rodent native to North America, an introduced species in parts of Europe, Asia, and South America
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, May 18, 2017 |
A Muskrat's fur is medium brown when dry, but looks much darker when wet. They were feeding on bits of vegetation floating in the water.

...I'd be grumpy too!
ReplyDeleteHello Lea, at first looking at the fur I thought it was a small dog swimming. Neat sighting of the muskrats. The cardinal couple are pretty. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteGood to see your Muskrats Lea. I'm not sure but I think we had feral/escaped ones here but they were eradicated. Cardinals are always a welcome sight.
ReplyDeleteHello Lea!:) What a great sighting of the Muskrats, and the Cardinals are pretty, even when they look disappointed.
ReplyDeleteNever have seen a muskrat. Good capture on your camera.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute shots of a muskrat. When I was a child, I once had one walk right up to me and I picked it up and took it home. gave it a bubble bath and after dinner I told my parents. we went out to see it and it was dead in the box. My dad thought it was rabid. Don't think I have seen one since that day
ReplyDeleteHi Lea, I have never seen a muskrat. Thanks for sharing! Those cardinals do look grumpy! Have a great day. Jo
ReplyDeleteLove the looks on the faces of the cardinals. They do seem to be saying "Where is our food?" Also enjoyed the photo of the muskrat.
ReplyDeleteAll are great captures...love the cardinals.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's like their expressions are telling the photographer "Where's our kibbles and bits?" lol
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, both the muskrat and the cardinals today.
Before I leave, I want to send along my thanks for linking in at I'd Rather B Birdin' to share this post with us!!
