Sky Watch Friday March 29, 2013

Beautiful sunny skies, but what's that in the Sycamore tree?

Shoes!

This Shoe Tree is alongside Highway 72 near Cherokee, Alabama, USA. No one seems to be sure of how it started, but it has been 'growing' for several years. It is more noticable now than it will be later in the year when the tree leafs out. Keep looking up - there's no telling what you might see!

Happy Sky Watch Friday!

    I haven’t heard of any here in Britain, but you never know, might catch on here too, interesting story, thanks for sharing.

  3. Can't help wondering how they got some of them up there. I've never seen anything quite like that.

  5. Great shot;
    I've seen those shoes up on wires; nobody ever seems to know why.

  6. Shoe trees are one of those mysterious things. There is one of route 66 here in Oklahoma that supposedly has been around for decades. It is full of shoes in the tree, on the ground around it and the surrounding trees.

  7. That one has more shoes than most. I have also seen a shoe barbed wire fence.

  8. Weird!

    Those sycamores...we just cut one out of the yard because of the huge leaves, seed balls and breaking limbs.

    Have one more to get rid of.
