Ruby Red Tuesday March 12, 2013

Chaenomeles speciosa, Flowering Quince
These shrubs are native to China, Japan, and Korea.

Some varieties produce small fruit,

  3. Several of mine make the fruit. One of these days probably when I retire, I might make jelly. Read that you could use them for that.

  5. Gorgeous colour! Mine is bright red, but looking at yours I really would like to have a few more, a dark pink and possibly a pale pink too!

  6. So beautiful. We still have snow here, and I'm so waiting for spring. I love especially the first picture, and I'll have to find out whether I can get the wonderful Chaenomeles speciosa for my garden, too ...

  10. When ever I see one of those, I am brought back to my childhood--we had one of these by our front door.
