This is the 'Harley Hall' owned by Tennessee Valley Towing going upstream on the Tennessee River towards Pickwick Dam.
And then a little while later, we saw going downstream towards the Ohio River the 'Ray S' owned by Enterprise Marine Services of Houston, Texas.
Sometimes we do not see any commercial traffic, even though we are there for several hours, so we were excited to see two boats with their barges within a half hour!
And in case you are wondering, when two boats with barges meet as these two did farther up the river, one of them stops and waits for the other to pass before it moves forward again.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWonderful views of the river and boats. I am not sure why, I have always loved tugboats. Maybe a fond memory from an old story book. Take care, have a happy day and a great weekend!
A wide river to have two such large craft able to pass. Great shots, Lea.
ReplyDeleteIt would be so relaxing to sit somewhere and watch river traffic. Neither of the two rivers near where I live can support river traffic (although the Susquehanna River does, but further south.) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching photos of the two boats and barges...they are so pretty going by (though I guess that is in the eye of the beholder!)

ReplyDeleteGreetings and Salutations! Wonderful photographs of boats and barges. Enjoy the week end.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the commercial traffic on the river. Pretty shots!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteI love these shots. I am fascinated by tugboats and barges and such. Such incredibly efficient ways to transport a large amount of staff.
