Tree Following, December 11, 2018

Tree Following and Our World Tuesday

Tree Following is fun! Just choose a tree and photograph it once a month as it goes through the changing seasons of the year. Post the photos on your blog between the 7th and 14th of each month, and link to Tree Following at The SquirrelBasket.

Lee County, Mississippi, USA, December 4, 2018
The tree I am following this year is a Red Maple, Acer rubrum. Like most of our deciduous trees, it is completely bare in the Winter except for a few dry leaves still hanging on...

.

… and these buds that are waiting for the warmer weather of Spring!

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Hello, nice post on the red maple tree. The tree in the first photo looks like it has a bird nest in it. Enjoy your day and week ahead!

  3. When looking at the thumbprint for this post I thought the leaf was a face mask.

  4. Come spring, it won't take long for that to wake up and leaf out.

  5. It sometimes seems a long way off but we are on the cusp of the winter solstice and then the inexorable march towards spring begins.

  10. Is that a birds nest as well? Something else to keep an eye on as the year passes!

  11. Thanks for including a photo of buds ... it's encouraging to see them this time of year! I also wondered if that were a bird's nest in the first photo?

  13. How nice to see a nest in your tree, and it is good to see the promise of next years foliage as this years dies away, Frances

  14. That's growing into a well-shaped tree - and the new buds and dead leaf are perfect in their different ways.
    All the best :)
