Willy Nilly Friday 5, Floral Friday Fotos, Sky Watch Friday
and on Saturday, Saturday's Critters, and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. Hot and Dry (Sky Watch Friday)
Lee County, Mississippi, USA, September 19, 2018
When we had cooler weather the first week of September, I thought 'Hurrah! Autumn is here!' But no, the hot dry weather has returned. Our daytime highs this week averaged 95F (35C).

2. Cotton
Union County, Mississippi, USA, September 18, 2018
Mississippi is third in cotton production in the United States. Texas is first; Georgia is second.

Ready for harvest

3. Petunia (Floral Friday Fotos)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 15, 2018
Petunia is a genus of flowering plants that originated in South America.

4. Cat (Saturday's Critters)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 15, 2018
Our cat, Big Jay, has two water bowls of his own, but he prefers to drink from the birdbath!

.

5. Ducks (I'd Rather B Birdin')
Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, September 10, 2018
When we were at Pickwick Lake last week, we saw some female and juvenile Mallard Ducks, but no males. There is a golf course nearby. Maybe that's where the male ducks were!

Have a wonderful day!

  2. ...hot and dry, same here, but a bit cooler.
...that's a bunch of cotton balls.
...what would we do without petunias?
...at the birdbath, perhaps he'll get a snake too.
...nice that you had all your ducks in row.
Thanks Lea for stopping by, enjoy your weekend.

  3. Big Jay likes to pretend he is a wild cat! ;-)

  4. And it occurs to me that as my only trip into the south was as a young child, I can't recall seeing a cotton field in person.

  5. Funny that he likes the birdbath more than his water bowl! What a character. We must not grow much cotton in CA, or at least in my area, because I rarely if ever see cotton fields. Have a great weekend!

  6. I've not seen cotton in the field too many times in my life. I think summer is ending for us in upstate New York this evening, following the calendar exactly.

  11. Oh the cotton fields, oh the work to pluck it from those tight hurtful pods. Amazing when one many decades past figured that the plants could be made into fabric...I love thinking about that, linen and even wool and how spinning it can turn it into garments...it's lovely.

  12. Our cotton fields are all barren. Your fields look much 'healthier' than the fields were here this year. My favorite photo today is the lone tractor! And, naturally, the ducks in a row!!

Thanks for coming over to I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend to share your post.

  13. The cotton fields are pretty! Cats are funny aren't they? Like the swimming ducks photo. Hope you're having a great Sunday!

  14. I think Big Jay prefers the bird bath because he is taunting the birds. The mischief is obvious in his face.
