Willy Nilly Friday, May 4, 2018

Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday,
and on Saturday, Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. Bay Springs Lake (Sky Watch Friday)
Tishomingo County, Mississippi, USA, April 27, 2018
I spent last weekend at Camp Bluebird for Cancer Survivors at Fellowship Christian Retreat on Bay Springs Lake. We had beautiful warm sunny days with cool nights.

The group cabins were close to the lake. I had an absolutely wonderful time!

2. Good Food
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, April 21, 2018
Club Sandwich at O'Charley's Restaurant: turkey, ham, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on toasted baguette bread with honey-mustard dressing for dipping. Delicious with French fried potatoes!

3. Favorite Photo of the Week
Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, April 29, 2018
I always enjoy watching the traffic on the Tennessee River. This is Ingram Barge Company's towboat 'Francis R. Keegan'...

...approaching the lock at Pickwick Dam on its way downstream (towards the Ohio River).

4. Turtle (Saturday's Critters)
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, April 11, 2018
A Softshell Turtle has a thick leather-like shell instead of the hard shell of other turtles.

5. Carolina Wren (I'd Rather B Birdin')
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, May 2, 2018
Carolina Wrens like to build their nests in brush piles. I live out in the country with lots of trees and brush piles are a part of the natural landscape here. But brush piles are not a necessity to attract Carolina Wrens. Last year a pair of these spunky little birds nested in a hanging basket begonia on my front porch!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  10. Peaceful environment Lea! It has been ages I went to a retreat (in the last churches they only had a women's retreat and at another time a men's retreat). The wren is so cute:)

  11. I like that beautiful sky over the lake. Never seen a softshell turtle. They have a flatter profile than what I'm used to seeing.

  12. Cute Carolina wren with a sweet smile. The camp looks like the perfect place to unwind, refresh, and reflect. :-)

  13. Photos so peaceful - no wonder it's a wonderful place for a retreat. I wonder if these are the turtles we used to see when we lived in Arkansas and they would wander into the road at certain seasons.
