At first I was not sure what I was seeing - the points on the wings look like horns, the red spots look like a face! Then I got it correctly orientated in my mind - head down, hindwings up!
It was 'mud puddling' - sucking up minerals from the damp ground.
Hope you are having a beautiful day!

ReplyDelete...beautiful, last night I saw Nature on PBS about butterflies.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous creature!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous butterfly, lovely photo. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm impressed. I've never seen a zebra butterfly "in real life".... It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the Zebra. I rarely see one here, unlike other members of the swallowtail family that are fairly common, so it's always an "occasion" when I do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly! It's a new variety for me. Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is one gorgeous butterfly.
ReplyDeleteWow - it looks like some strange creature!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one. I love the 'mud puddling' expression. A new one for me.
