Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday, Floral Friday Fotos,
I'd Rather B Birdin', and Saturday's Critters

1. Windswept Sky (Sky Watch Friday)
Booneville, Mississippi, USA, March 31, 2018
Last Saturday was sunny, but windy.
Early Friday morning update on the weather: Rain!

2. The Most Interesting Thing I have Seen This Week
A door pull that you operate with your foot!

Mounted near the floor on the inside of the restrooms' doors, it keeps your freshly washed hands clean as you go back into the restaurant. And it was surprisingly easy to open the door.

Florence, Alabama, USA, April 5, 2018
I found it at Legends Steakhouse in downtown Florence, Alabama. (The BBQ ribs were delicious!) That is a waterfall on the left side of the front door, but I have not been able to get a good photo of the moving water.

3. Favorite Photo of the Week (Saturday's Critters)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, April 2, 2018
I was amazed to find this tiny Yellow Bellied Slider Turtle in my front yard!
(The fine yellow dust coating everything here is pollen from the pine trees).

4. Great Blue Heron ( I'd Rather B Birdin')
Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, April 1, 2018
I am always surprised to see a Great Blue Heron up in a tree!

5. Mountain Azalea (Floral Friday Fotos)
Lee County, Mississippi, USA, March 30, 2018
Rhododendron canescens is a shrub with many common names: Mountain Azalea, Honeysuckle Azalea, and Wild Azalea to name just a few. Native to the southeastern United States, blooms appear in the early Spring before the leaves develop.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. It was nice to see a wild azalea again - nicer to see the turtle. I remember well that yellow pollen from my couple of March trips to Savannah, Georgia. Every morning our car would be covered in it.

  2. ...well there aren't any turtles or azaleas to be seen in my neck of the woods yet! The Door Wave, what an idea. A blue sky would be nice to see one of these days. Thanks Lea for stopping by!

  3. So many "goodies"! Love the little turtle. The door pull is a great idea ... I also employ (when I can) the "open door by the backside push"!!!!!!!!!!!! The great blue is one of my favorite birds.

  4. That is the tiniest turtle! I like the foot door opener. Many a time I have pulled my sleeve over my hand or used my behind...whichever works!

  6. I feel warm just visiting this post. Thank you! The Azalea is very pretty. I hope more public restrooms will use that door hardware--it certainly makes sense!

  7. I've never seen a door pull like that. Great idea, and wonder if it will catch on! Love the little turtle shot. Little guy like that, the eggs must have been laid nearby. Maybe you'll find more!

  11. I remember that yellow pine pollen from when I lived in Raleigh. It covered everything. It's nice to see blooms again. Spring is my favorite time of year. Great shot of the heron and I sure could use that door opener. I am a germ-a-phobe when it comes to touching door handles. Especially bathroom doors. Have a wonderful weekend!

  12. The pollen is here as well, in good ole Virginia. I must tell my son about that steak house. He lives in Athens and goes over to Florence often. Maybe he'll take me when I go down to visit.

  13. I love your little turtle, and am delighted that someone has figured out a way to keep newly-washed hands clean while going out a door that leads inside.
The rhododendron...lovely...we have no flowers yet. And the heron in the tree. I love that.
    Thanks for sharing your photos!

  16. I hope the sanitary door pull catches on! The little turtle - so precious! You must have really good eyesight to spot him among the rest of the green stuff!
