Once you get them started, they try to take over the world!

The Tufted Titmouse, Baeolophus bicolor, is a frequent visitor to backyard feeders in the eastern half of the United States. You may attract them by offering sunflower seeds and suet, and by putting up bird houses.

Have a wonderful day!

  5. Sweet flowers for spring. Love the photo of how violets take over. I don't have them in my garden but I know a friend spends hours each year moving them out of her pathways.

  8. Lea, I adore wild violets. In fact, when first moved here and went on my early treks into the woods and came across them, I thought that Mother Nature wouldn't mind if I moved them a little close to home. Each year I spread what I have here and there, hoping to spread them in my world!...:)JP

  11. Tufted Titmouse is a delightful little bird and used to be extremely rare here. However, in recent years it has extended its range northwards, and while not common it is no longer unexpected.

  12. My violets are not blooming yet - just a few here and there. I have one color of purple only. Yours look great with the different shades. It has been a temptation to get other colors but they are trying to take over everything now. It may not be wise to encourage them - but when have I ever been wise when it comes to adding more flowers?

  14. I have some violets, too. I pull out the ones that go beyond the area I have for them. I also put a few leaves and blooms into salads early in their season. Happy Easter!
