Pink Primrose, June 1, 2015

Pink Primrose, Oenothera speciosa, May 24, 2015, Lee county, Mississippi, USA

I saw this pretty wildflower beside one of my favorite walking trails on The Natchez Trace Parkway.  They are sometimes called Pink Ladies or Mexican Primrose.  They can be found all across the southern half of the United States in meadows, prairies, open woodlands, and along roadsides.  They are drought-resistant.  But be warned if you think you want them at your house - they can be invasive.

Have a Beautiful Day!

  2. Have never seen a pink primrose. The wild ones in my area all tend to be yellow.

  3. We call them evening primrose here and you've just reminded me that I don't remember seeing them in some of the places where I normally see them in spring. I'll have to pay attention and look for them. I do love them. They are beautiful.
