Buds on the Hellebores, Lenten Rose, January 14, 2015 |
No snow here yet, but we have had very cold temperatures. On Thursday of last week the early morning temperature was 9F (-12C). The high that day was 27F (-3C). When I made this photo yesterday, the temperature was just barely above freezing with partly cloudy skies.
Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!
To see what is blooming in gardens, greenhouses, and/or indoors around the world,
Lovely photo Lea, nature's beauty.
ReplyDeleteThose are temperatures I've never experienced and can only imagine. I don't think I'd do very well when it's that cold. Lovely to see some buds appearing.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to think of flowers while we are freezing in the winter!
ReplyDeleteReally nice to see the new growth!
ReplyDeletewow, I wouldn't think it would be that cold in Mississippi! Beautiful hellebore plant, on my wish list!!
ReplyDeleteWinter has just begun -- I'm ready for it to give way to spring.
ReplyDeleteHellebores are something that I've always admired but never planted.
Wow, really cold. Drink lots of cocoa, tea or coffee and stay warm. Spring is just around the corner....
ReplyDeleteThose buds are the promise of spring. It always comes. Until it does, stay warm!
ReplyDeleteIts is wonderful seeing those flower buds on such a cold winter's day. I have thought of getting some Hellebores for the garden ...maybe someday. Happy Bloom Day!
ReplyDeleteBrrrr. And to think I have been complaining about the cold and it's barely gone below freezing. But at least we have hellebores, the promise of things to come.
ReplyDeleteThe buds will soon bloom and smile at you.. Stay warm and Happy GBBD.
ReplyDeleteWow, you're already seeing growth and buds. Lucky you! I think you might appreciate my post for today. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice to see your hellebores in bud, a promise of spring even though they will be covered with snow for a while I guess. Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteYour hellebore looks as chilly as mine, Lea! Not sure which I prefer, the endless rain we are having or your cold. I, too, didn't realise it could get as cold as that in Mississippi!
ReplyDeleteHi Lea!! Aren't Hellebores the best??
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloom Day!!
How exciting to see the Hellebore buds! Mine won't appear for awhile, but they are always such a welcome sight. Happy Bloom Day!
ReplyDeleteLove those Hellebores! You can't have too many IMHO! :)
ReplyDeleteLea, We expect January temperatures like that in Maine, but in Mississippi?!? Your hellebores are lovely. -Jean
