A Rainy Week-end August 11, 2013

We hardly saw the sun all week-end.
Cloudy skies brought sudden bursts of intense rain.

Blanket Flower, Gaillardia, with Coneflowers in the background.
The flowers are looking about half-drowned.
This beauty was bent over to the ground. I lifted it up to get a photo

Swallowtail Butterfly on Butterfly Bush
Even the butterflies are looking a little raggedy.

Bumblebee on Rose of Sharon, Atthea
The bumblebees are so wet that pollen is clinging to every part of their bodies.

Sweet 100 tomatoes
But my vegetable garden is very happy!

Have a Wonderful Week!

  15. The swallowtail butterfly is beautiful. We do have them in England, but they are now restricted to the east of Norfolk.

  16. Congrats on your tomatoes getting ripe. Some of mine are coloring up, I thought it had been a hot year but they are late. It almost rained here in the dry season. I don't welcome summer rain because it frequently means late blight, though I haven't grown tomatoes previously where they are this year so maybe not. The butterfly and bumblebee shots are great!
