Bugs and Butterflies June 11, 2013

ABC Wednesday and Outdoor Wednesday
V is for Volkswagon
I spotted this cute Volkswagon Bug in Amory, Mississippi, USA.
Currie's Pharmacy uses it to deliver prescription medicines to their customers.
I hope all the reflections (especially on the windshield) are not too distracting.
And now for Outdoor Wednesday
When is a 'V' not a 'V'?
When it is a mis-identified butterfly.
I thought at first that this was a Variegated Fritillary, but it is not.
It is the Great Spangled Fritillary
The flower is Sweet William Dianthus.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

  3. The butterfly against the dianthus makes a very pretty and colorful picture!

  5. Fun post! I thought the reflections were interesting.

The Butterfly is great. Sweet William is such a good butterfly nectar plant for that time between early spring and the start of summer when not much else has a lot of nectar.

  6. We've had a few Volkswagens in our day, a great blue convertible and a red one. Very cute delivery wagon.

  7. Stunning shot of the butterfly! And my kids love spotting VW Bugs in traffic.

  8. The Volkswagen is so cute! We had one driving around our community back in the 60's delivering chinese food with an oriental look! Love your photo!

  9. Excellent "bug" photos!

I have some sweet william that came up from last year and it looks great.
