Mural: Tishomingo, September 13, 2021

Monday Mural and Our World Tuesday

Click on the photos to see them at their best.

Tishomingo, Mississippi, USA, August 6, 2021
It was a cloudy day when we were in town. I meant to go back on a sunny day, but it has been over a month now, so here goes with the cloudy day photos.

The Bible verse on the sign is John 13:34 "Love each other as I have loved you."

Independence Day celebration

The town gets its name from an important Native American Indian: Chief Tishomingo.

The railroad was key to the early development of the town and is still important today.

The old Tishomingo Agricultural High School

The Swinging Bridge is a pedestrian bridge at Tishomingo State Park. It is supported by steel cables and yes, it does sway a bit as you walk across it.

Have a wonderful week!

  2. What an impressive way to get the town's name out. This set of murals is SO iconic and very American. Such lovely murals within the larger one and I especially enjoyed the July 4th celebration. Absolutely stunning.

  6. It is amazing that we did everything we could to demean, degrade and exterminate First Nations and then named our towns after them, and created plaques to honour them.
