Willy Nilly Friday, July 27, 2018

Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday,
and on Saturday, Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. The View From My Mailbox (Sky Watch Friday)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, July 25, 2018
Lots of fluffy clouds this week, but no measurable rain.

2. Good Food!
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, July 21, 2018
Last Saturday was my husband's 73rd birthday. We celebrated at the Red Lobster Restaurant in Tupelo. We started with green salads and cheddar bay biscuits. For his main course, my husband ordered the Crab Linguini Alfredo, and enjoyed every bite!

He won't let me photograph his food, but...

I had the grilled tilapia with corn on the cob and steamed broccoli. Delicious!

3. Butterfly (Saturday's Critters)
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, July 7, 2018
Common Buckeye Butterfly, Junonia coenia, on Butterfly Bush, Buddleia, at my house. The Butterfly Bush is really living up to its name this Summer. Every time I walk outside, I see butterflies on it, and the blooms have a wonderful aroma.

4. Mushrooms
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, July 22, 2018
Photographing mushrooms is a great way to practice your macro photography skills.

Though people may look at you funny if they see you laying down on the ground!

5. Green Heron (I'd Rather B Birdin')
Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, July 21, 2018
The Green Heron, Butorides virescens, is small but colorful.

I don't know what it saw, but it suddenly raised its crest and dashed off into taller grass.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. ...nice bend in the road.
...he's a year older than me.
...I haven't been to Red Lobster in years.
...there's nothing common about the Common Buckeye Butterfly.
    ...who cares what people think.
    ...I rarely see one.
    Thanks Lea for stopping by!

  3. The heron seems to be stalking about with great purpose.

  4. Such a nice post! Love the butterfly, the mushrooms and the heron so much! About the hummers...I had no idea the size of the holes in the feeders would make a difference. They do seem to at least partially ignore some feeders over others, and I wasn't sure why!

  11. Great shots! The Heron is ready to do something. Wish my butterfly bush would bloom. It did great last year but this year it's not blooming at all. Hope you're having a great weekend!
