G is for the Great Blue Heron
Pickwick, Tennessee, USA, February 1, 2016 |
Great Blue Herons, Ardea herodias, can be found over most of the United States and the southernmost parts of Canada. Birds in the northern parts of their range migrate farther south for the Winter. Fish are their primary food. Occasionally, they catch and eat small mammals and reptiles.
