F is for our Fine Feathered Friends - the Birds
Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, January 27, 2016 |
I think this is a juvenile Red-Shouldered Hawk.
After it showed off its beautifully patterned back feathers...
It turned around so I could admire its front!
Hawks belong to the Accipitridae Family: Hawks and Eagles. All are predators, with hooked bills and sharply pointed talons. There are 240 species worldwide.
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
