Two Years and Counting, October 3-4, 2013

The anniversary of my second year blogging passed by last week without my noticing it.
When I looked at my photos for the date, September 26,
I was happy to see it was the day we went to the Pumpkin Field Day In Jackson, Tennessee.

Ornamental Grass, September 26, 2013
It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky

Pumpkins grow in many different shapes, sizes, and colors
Being Pumpkin Field Day, of course, there were lots of pumpkins.

Capsicum, 'Chilly Chili'
But I was surprised to see how many marvelous ornamental peppers were growing there, too.

Capsicum 'Prairie Fire'

I forgot to get an ID for this.
And beautiful foliage plants.

Whale's Tongue Agave

Banana Trees with lovely pink ornamental grasses.
I must remember to go back in the Spring when the Iris will be blooming.
As for this week's weather, we had rain on Monday, partly cloudy skies the rest of the week,
with very pleasant temperatures.

Have a wonderful week-end!

  7. Pretty. Reminds me of the Crystal Springs Fall Fest at the Truck Crop Experiment Station. It's a pretty big event.

    Happy weekend.

  13. Happy 2nd Blogoversary to you, I hope you are doing something special to celebrate!!! I found an anniversary count down which I have put on my side bar, that way your third anniversary won't go unnoticed!!
Love your photographs, especially the huge array of incredible pumpkins. We don't seem to have such a big choice in Australia, or perhaps I don't know where to shop?!

  17. I am not sure what the plant you refer to is. It is not the A desmettiana 'variegata' at my entrance way. This looks like a yucca of some kind or a phormium ( leaves not so strappy) maybe an agave. It is in a pot and I doubt is hardy. Most of the softer leaved ones are not hardy. Also, I don't think that is a Whale's tongue agave. Too many leaves and not mounding. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

  19. What a beautiful array of winter squash. And the ornamental peppers are so colorful, too bad most seem not to be edible or taste good. I admire the Pink Muhly grass, I am going to try to grow some from seed for next year. Happy 2nd Blogversary!
