Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day October 2013

Mississippi, USDA Zone 7
The abundant blooms of Summer are gone, but there are still a few flowers to be found.
Lantana
Marigolds
Oxalis
Mums
Red Salvia
Pineapple Sage
Encore Azalea with Praying Mantis
Butterflyweed
The most interesting thing I have to report for this October Bloom Day is that my
Butterflyweed, after blooming all Summer and producing hundreds of seeds, is budding again!
I hope there is time for blooms before the weather gets too cold.

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  1. Always a few flowers that hang on - and the mantis is a good find.

I think I spent more time looking at the waves around the Apostles than at the rocks.

  5. Love the photo of the praying mantis in the azalea! I was disappointed this year in how few mantids I saw in my garden, especially after finding an egg case in early spring. I've never seen a butterfly weed bloom again--hope you get to enjoy its blooms!

  7. You have more blooming than I do. I have a lot of confederate roses showing out. Wish they would not wait until so late in the year to do so.

  8. Lea, Thanks for visiting my blog. I believe your right about the Pokeweed. I'm glad to know it has some value. I Love your Oxalis. My daughter has one as a houseplant. Does yours grow outside all year?

  14. Lea, You have some very pretty flowers blooming for Bloom Day. How nice that you are getting more blooms on your Butterfly Weed! Do you know if they go dormant or do they come back from seeds? I planted some for the first time this year, and I just love them as do the butterflies. We even had a Monarch fluttering around one a couple of weeks ago!
