Fritillary on Butterfly Bush, Buddleia |
September 12, 2013 |
If you have space for one more plant, I highly recommend Buddleia (Buddleja).
There are dwarf varieties if you have only a small space.
Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

Butterfly bush living up to its name. We have had a few butterflies around this week - they are the first of the spring.

That is a super photograph of your Fritillary butterfly and of the buddleja too!
ReplyDeleteI love your photographs of the butterfly...such great shots. I haven't seen that kind of butterfly around here on Long Island...very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSuperb photography. Every garden should have a Buddleja!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloom Day!
Buddleias are plants that I need to add to my garden - again - next spring. I've lost most of mine in recent years because of the draught, although I do have an old tough-as-nails heirloom that keeps keeps on going. Its blossoms are small but butterflies love it. Your buddleia is gorgeous and so is the fritillary. Happy Bloom Day.
ReplyDeleteHi Neighbor....this year has been such a surprise...I love the hummingbirds and the butterflies as much as the flowers.....happy gbbd!

ReplyDeleteButterflies do love that buddleia. So pretty too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I have thought about getting one of those dwarf buddleias ever since they were available over here, still thinking about it, maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteNice images.
ReplyDeleteI really like the dwarf Butterfly Bushes. I have 1 'Blue Chip' and 2 of the 'Buzz' buddlejas. The butterflies just love them. Beautiful photos of your butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThey never live more than a year or two in my yard. I think the soil is too sandy and rocky for them.
ReplyDeleteI do love them!
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. And thanks for your visit and comment.

Have a nice week.
Beautiful butterfly photos! I so miss Fritillaries. I have a regular Buddleia which I never cut back so it is quite large. I didn't like the knobby knees and rampant growth when I cut them back. I get Tiger Swallowtails visiting, they are very special but I didn't succeed in getting close to one this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful butterfly! The best case for a butterfly bush I've seen. Happy Bloom day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! If I rip out some of the non-native shrubs (highly likely in the future), I will plant Buddleia for sure! I don't have a place for it now, but I love it! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty captures!
