We often see hawks perched on the power lines beside the roads.
They are wary of people, so you have to act fast to get a photo.

I think this is a Red-Shouldered Hawk.
Have a wonderful day!

Great capture, they fly away as soon as they see me stop the car a mile away.
ReplyDeleteGreat image - wrong part of the world for me to offer an opinion on the ID of the hawk - I have enough trouble with ours!

ReplyDeleteHi Mea, yes we see them here too on the high lines all of the time. I rarely see one or get a good shot of one actually in a tree.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot you have here though. Very nice indeed! Have a good week!
Oh wow! Impressive! He has very nice feathers!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, too!

Thank goodness you were at the right place at the right time to get this fellow. As you said, they are fast.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent! I always feel a bit of a thrill when I spy one of the hawks around here. We saw one last Thursday driving past a local apple orchard en route to work. One of these days I'm going to manage a decent photo of one...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Red-shouldered Hawk. They always look as if they are pondering some deep thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThey do seem to love power lines!
ReplyDeleteWonderful capture. It always amazes me how they can just set on that wire. Happy Skywatching!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is fabulous! They look so regal.
ReplyDeleteCheers from Cottage Country!
