Carolina Wrens, Thryothorus ludovicianus, are common here where I live in the southeastern part of the United States. Their primary food sources are insects and spiders, and they will come to suet feeders in cold weather.

We had snow Sunday night, but then it turned to sleet for most of the day Monday. It looks like snow, but it is really ice! Very slick, very dangerous. And with below freezing temperatures for the next few days, it will be the weekend before it melts and it is safe to get out again.

I hope you have a good week!

  1. Kudos to you for feeding the birds when the weather is so cold and icy.
Usually we get lots of ice along with the snow. This time no ice and the snow was so cold and light that at least one of my neighbors blew the snow off with a leaf blower.

  5. We have snow and single digit temps, but no ice. Ice is so dangerous, do be careful.

  7. Hello,
Love your cute wren, great photo. It is super cold here, the snow we had recently will not be melting. Our high for today is only 23° . Take care, stay safe.

  8. In Finland we have sub freezing temps from late November to early April. It´s -18C (-0.4F) outside right now. And more than foot of snow. How about that? ⛄
