Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

Click on the photo to see it at its best.

At first I thought this was a Red-shouldered Hawk, Buteo lineatus. But then, looking at its tail, I thought: Cooper's Hawk, Accipiter cooperii. So to make a long story short, I don't know which Hawk this is! I am hoping someone can help me with identification.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  1. Sure looks like a Red-shouldered Hawk to me.

  2. I don't know much about hawks, although I love seeing them as long as they stay away from my bird feeders.

  3. I would say 99% sure it's a Cooper's ... the tail seem longer & brighter than a re-shouldered. It may be the backlighting tho.

Thanks so much for sharing this at IRBB this week.

  5. Those birds are hard to identify for sure. Either is a treat!
