All the European Starlings,
Sturnus vulgaris, in North America are descended from 100 birds released in New York City in 1890 (Source:
All About Birds). They are invasive and regarded as pests in many places, but they sure are handsome birds! This one has its non-breeding feathers. Their breeding feathers are darker and more iridescent.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Happy New Year!

Starlings are great looking birds - even if they are unpopular in some parts of the world where they have been introduced (like Australia!).
