Willy Nilly Friday, September 18, 2020

Willy Nilly Friday 5, Sky Watch Friday, Floral Friday Fotos, Signs 2,

and on Saturday, Saturday's Critters and I'd Rather B Birdin'

1. Cloudy Skies (Sky Watch Friday)

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 14, 2020
We had 3 inches (7cm) of rain last Saturday, and partly cloudy skies with a few showers this week. Actually, I stopped here to photograph the Egret, and thought the sky was interesting, too!

Great Egret, Ardea alba.

2. Spider Lily (Floral Friday Fotos)

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 18, 2020
Spider Lilies, Lycoris, are members of the Amaryllis family of plants.

In late Summer or early Autumn they produce showy umbels of funnel shaped flowers.

They are perennials that bloom on bare stems; the leaves appear after the blooms fade.

3. The Ten Commandments (Signs 2)

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, September 15, 2020
The Ten Commandments are not multiple choice.

4. Portrait of a Grasshopper (Saturday's Critters)

Shiloh, Tennessee, USA, September 8, 2020
It's not often that I can get a Grasshopper to pose for me!

5. Killdeer (I'd Rather B Birdin')

Tupelo, Mississippi, USA, September 13, 2020
The Killdeer, Charadrius vociferus, an American Plover, is most often seen near fresh-water ponds, mudflats, and sandbars.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. That was a nice closeup to the grasshopper. There seem to be a lot of them this year,at least up here in New York State. I enjoyed your cloud photo with the lone egret in it, too. And the lilies that aren't hardy where I live.

  8. ...we haven't had rain in what seems like forever.
...it must be too cold for egrets here.
...I need to dig up my Amaryllis from th garden and pot it to force.
    ...lots of them here.
...I haven't seen a Killdeer since I sold the nursery.

  10. Beautiful pictures! I love the sky, I will check out Sky Watch Friday :-) ooooh, your spider lily is gorgeous! I had a couple bulbs way back but they disappeared, either rotted or were dug up and eaten by wildlife. I do have the yellow variety which is doing much better than the red ever did. Then again, it may be the location :)
