Rock Doves (aka Rock Pigeons), Columba livia, are usually just called Pigeons. There may be variations in plumage color and pattern even within the same flock.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I’ve never seen these doves before. We only have the mourning ones. Thank you for sharing.

  2. They are pests in some areas here. They can have such beautiful plumage.

  3. Not a bird often featured on blogs. Well done. As for the comment above that they are pests I suspect that the pigeons might consider humans far greater pests, and malevolent and vicious too. If you had dark plumage you'd be afraid someone would put his foot on your neck and kill you.

  5. Hello,
Having lived in the city, I have seen many pigeons. I think they have pretty colors, each one can look different. Take care, have a happy day!

  6. I love to hear the sound of a cooing dove. We had them living in the eucalyptus trees behind our home when we lived in Pomona, California. - Margy

  9. Mmmm, don't care for pigeons. They *drop* not safe things.

But do love my cardinals, who eat Japanese Beetles, off our grape vines. ~smile~
