White-throated Sparrow, April 8, 2020

Wild Bird Wednesday and My Corner of the World

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, April 2, 2020
White-throated Sparrows, Zonotrichia albicollis, are on the move, heading back north to their breeding grounds. I am delighted that a few stopped by my garden! They are rather plump Sparrows with round heads and long tails. White-throated Sparrows eat seeds and insects, and in the early Spring they may be seen eating newly-formed tree buds.

All my best birding areas are closed, so I hope more migrants stop here for me to photograph!

Hope you are having a good week!

  1. Hello, cute capture of the Sparrow. I am still seeing a lot of these birds in my yard, a Junco too. Take care, wishing you a happy day!
